Guess what? It’s gratitude! Gratitude is an instant shortcut to happiness!

What do we mean by Gratitude?

Gratitude is a quality of being thankful, and to be appreciative of the things that we have. We take the things we have and we feel a real sense of thankfulness that we have it.

A famous study by Robert Emmons and McCullough found that – Just by writing down five things that you’re happy about in your life once a week for a few weeks your whole life as a whole will be better.

They also found that if you’re sick or you have things bothering you, those symptoms go down when you’re feeling grateful. Gratitude can increase our mood, lower your stress level, lower your blood pressure and it can even strength your immune system

Do you want to know the biggest happiness booster?

They found that the act of taking gratitude to one next level, not just experiencing it yourself but sharing it with others can be even extra powerful. It’s called a gratitude visit.

What is a gratitude visit?

Marty Seligman, Father of positive psychology did a research called a Gratitude Visit. In which, you write a letter to somebody about how grateful you are. And you actually physically give it to that person. They found that there’s a huge increase in happiness.

Do you know how long you can be happy doing this one Gratitude visit?

So say you do your gratitude visit today, a week later, two weeks later, one month later, even three months later, we will still see the effect of that Gratitude visit. This one short visit of expressing gratitude, can increase our subjective well-being for up to 3 months. This is the power of not just experiencing gratitude but sharing that with other people
